It all starts here – from the tea bush. There is a saying in tea that you can’t make good tea out of bad leaf. In other words, good quality is dependent on good agricultural practices.
This is where the plucked leaves get turned into dried tea and then packed into sacks. Different processes will take place depending on the type of tea being manufactured.
Tea is stored in warehouses until they are ready for shipment. Tea is loaded into containers at the warehouse. This is Chai Trading in Mombasa
THE PORT OF DEPARTURE
After the tea is containerised it is loaded on board huge container ships. Shipments have to be planned carefully because sometimes vessels only call in at port for a short time.
Our teas leave from the ports of Colombo, Mombasa and Kolkata. They take between 4-6 weeks to arrive.

The containers are unloaded at Felixstowe and then warehoused.
