Matcha is one of the best known teas to come out of Japan and is celebrated for its numerous health benefits. Before harvesting, the leaf is covered with shade to encourage chlorophyll build up. This makes the leaf greener and packs it with great tasting amino-acids and antioxidants. The leaf is ground into a very fine powder – the finer and greener the powder, the better the matcha.
Matcha is perfect for using in smoothies or lattes. Because of its consistency it can also be used as an ingredient in baking, ice creams and much more... And it's packed full of goodness too! We use around 2g or a level teaspoon of matcha per serving. Takw a look on Insta @twospoonstea for more ideas
Tea is good for you. Tea comes in a myriad of flavours. Tea is grown in beautiful places by passionate people. Tea brings us together. We want to champion tea for all its worth through our expertise, experience and award winning products so that people rebuild an emotional connection with tea again.
...but in a good way! Every year The Guild of Fine Foods runs The Great Taste Awards, a brilliant scheme for accrediting fine food and drink. Some categories, like tea and herbal beverages, need specialist tasters on the judging panel and that’s where we come in. We’ve also entered some of our teas and come back with 5 stars so far. But before you say anything, we can’t judge categories that our teas are entered in. That would be naughty!!!
OUR APPROACH TO PACKAGING
We are passionate about transparency and doing the right thing. One of our priorities is ensuring we are plastic free. Our pouches, tea 'pillows' and labels are commercially compostable and can be put in your food waste bin. Our postal packaging is recyclable. We're not perfect and will always strive to improve. We want warm glows when drinking a Two Spoons brew.
OUR TEA RANGE
We’ve developed a range of single origin and blended teas that we love. They are from places we’ve been to or people we know. We’ve targeted specific growing regions and seasons to showcase our teas’ best attributes. So, put the kettle on and enjoy!

This is my favourite blend of leaf tea I've drunk in my 55 years of drinking tea. And I've drunk A LOT of tea (Bucks Blend Loose Leaf)

Bungalow Blend is a great tea with a super flavour. Have bought a number of times already for myself and as presents. Will continue to do so. Give it a try!
When a local gin distillery meets a local tea company, you might expect a polite exchange of beverages and a handshake. What you probably wouldn’t expect is a deep dive into Darjeeling First Flush, a slightly manic session of taste-testing, and a revelation that tea tasters don’t always like their brews strong enough to fuel a rocket launch.
When in comes to culinary duos, tea and crumpets are right up there with fish and chips or strawberries and cream. As we tiptoe into autumnal weather, a steaming cuppa and piping buttered crumpet conjure up cosy afternoon teas.
It all starts here – from the tea bush. There is a saying in tea that you can’t make good tea out of bad leaf. In other words, good quality is dependent on good agricultural practices.
THE FACTORY
This is where the plucked leaves get turned into dried tea and then packed into sacks. Different processes will take place depending on the type of tea being manufactured.
THE WAREHOUSE
Tea is stored in warehouses until they are ready for shipment. Tea is loaded into containers at the warehouse. This is Chai Trading in Mombasa.
THE PORT OF DEPARTURE
After the tea is containerised it is loaded on board huge container ships. Shipments have to be planned carefully because sometimes vessels only call in at port for a short time.
THE SHIP
Our teas leave from the ports of Colombo, Mombasa and Kolkata. They take between 4-6 weeks to arrive.
THE PORT OF ARRIVAL
The containers are unloaded at Felixstowe and then warehoused.
BLENDING
The containers are unloaded at Felixstowe and then warehoused. Our tea is blended by our friend Will at Fine Tea Merchants. Not only is he a forklift wizard, he literally wrote the book on tea!
